As Canada reflects on its shared history during the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, NFP stands committed to supporting Indigenous students and creating pathways for educational success.
We are proud to invest in the next generation of Indigenous leaders through our partnership with Indspire, a national Indigenous charity that supports First Nations, Inuit and Métis students through education.
In 2022, through Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures funding program, we established the NFP Indigenous Bursary Program with a $100,000 contribution over three years. Through this program, a total of 20 NFP Indigenous bursaries will be given to students pursuing studies in business, finance, communications and insurance.
We are glad to play a small role in helping remove financial barriers to education and in contributing to long-term success for these students and their communities.
The bursaries are already making a significant difference. One recipient shared the emotional impact of receiving the bursary: “When I checked my emails this morning, I cried happy tears. Feeling as though my prayers have been answered… I won’t need to stress so much going into my last month of classes.”
Another recipient expressed relief, saying, “Your generosity will have a positive impact on my academic journey and future career in advertising and marketing communications, and I will forever be grateful for this opportunity.”
Beyond financial support, NFP has had the opportunity to participate in Indspire events, such as the Indspire Awards and A Feast in the Forest, where we’ve been able to further support Indspire’s work while learning from and celebrating Indigenous communities.
We believe that we all have a role to play in fostering equity and a shared responsibility in the journey toward healing and reconciliation.
