NFP Backs Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team on the Road to World Cup

July 25, 2025
Action shot of the Canadian women's rugby team.

In 2022, Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team left it all on the field at the World Cup in New Zealand. After a narrow semifinal loss to England, the team finished fourth — heartbroken but proud and determined to come back stronger. Three years later, they’re doing just that.

As the 2025 Rugby World Cup approaches, Canada enters the tournament ranked number two in the world and with a bold, unified goal — not just to compete, but to win.

At NFP, we’re proud to support this extraordinary group of athletes as the Official Insurance Partner of Rugby Canada and the front-of-jersey sponsor for Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team. Our partnership reflects shared values: leadership, resilience, teamwork and a belief that empowered women change the game.

A Unified Team with a Singular Vision

One of the most powerful shifts since the last World Cup is the adoption of a one-squad mentality. Over the past three years, Rugby Canada has created greater alignment between its 7s and 15s teams, resulting in stronger cohesion, deeper chemistry and a dynamic roster of players who have grown together through every tackle, trial and triumph.

Thirty-two athletes will head to England this fall, many of them seasoned competitors who’ve represented Canada in both formats. The team is heading into the World Cup fully prepared to challenge the world’s best and to take their place at the top.

A National Stage for Global Impact

The 2025 Rugby World Cup includes matches played across cities in England to ensure broad accessibility and grassroots engagement. One key initiative includes free rugby camps for young girls paired with livestreamed matches to build excitement and visibility across communities.

This momentum mirrors a larger global trend. Women’s rugby is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and Canada is helping lead the charge. As a sport, rugby is inclusive by design, welcoming athletes of diverse sizes, backgrounds and skill sets. As a movement, women’s rugby represents something even bigger: a space where strength and strategy meet purpose and potential.

NFP’s Commitment Beyond the Jersey

Our support of the Women’s Team goes beyond game day.

Through the Let’s Play Rugby youth program, NFP helps introduce the sport to girls with diverse backgrounds and experiences, creating safe and inclusive spaces for play, leadership and physical activity. We’re also proud collaborators in Rugby Canada’s Career Pathway Program, providing paid internships to national team players so they can gain valuable work experience while continuing to train and compete at the highest level.

These programs are designed to support athletes as whole people — not just as players. Whether they’re lifting trophies or building careers, we’re committed to helping them succeed.

Join the Mission to Win

Behind every great team is a community that believes in them. As Canada prepares for the world stage, Rugby Canada has launched Mission: Win the Rugby World Cup 2025, a national fundraising campaign to fuel the team’s success. Donations help cover training, travel, staffing and competition expenses — all essential for preparing the team to go the distance. Together, we can help this team go further and inspire the next generation of athletes. and inspire the next generation of athletes.
