NFP, an Aon company, is a proud partner of Food Banks Canada, contributing $50,000 annually — equivalent to 100,000 meals — to help combat food insecurity across the country.
“When we chose Food Banks Canada as one of our charitable partners, we wanted to support an organization that makes a difference across all the communities where our teams live and work,” says Debora Hendrickson, managing director of client experience and operations, Personal Risk and Small Business Insurance for NFP in Canada.
“Food insecurity is a pressing issue across the country, and Food Banks Canada not only provides essential help to those in need but also works toward long-term solutions to end hunger. Their mission to create a Canada where no one goes hungry perfectly aligns with our values and commitment to creating positive change.”
Hunger in Canada is a growing crisis. In 2024, over 2 million people visited food banks every month — a staggering 90% increase since 2019. Alarmingly, almost 1 in 5 people visiting food banks are employed yet still struggle to make ends meet, and 1 in 3 are children. These numbers illustrate the urgent need for both immediate support and long-term solutions.
Beyond financial contributions, NFP employees are actively engaged in the fight against hunger. From organizing food drives to volunteering at local food banks, our teams are committed to making a difference in communities nationwide.
“Local food banks are being overwhelmed with demand for their services as the cost of living continues to skyrocket across the country. To create a Canada where no one is left behind, we must continue to do what is needed to support people who are struggling to put meals on the table,” says Erin Filey-Wronecki, chief development and partnerships officer at Food Banks Canada.
“Thanks to valuable partners like NFP, collectively we can help to relieve the high levels of need today, while also providing national leadership to prevent hunger tomorrow.”
